By popular demand, we have launched some new dates for 2020 art workshops.
And here is my story why ....
Several years ago, I HATED painting - simply because I believed I couldn't do it.
To try and secure a place at art school, my art teacher encouraged me to try painting .... so I tried ... but still wasn't a fan. I was unsuccessful in gaining a place at art school - so knew I had to grow my portfolio to try again next year.
I attended Ayrshire college to complete a portfolio preperation course, where they were able to tutor and guide us into using a huge variety of mediums to try and get into University.
I started to learn some techniques in class, and at home would practice ... building a sketchbook with all my attempts. But one day, I painted a simple little highland cow with a palette knife, and I was surprisingly proud of what I had achieved.
My mum was also proud of what I had painted where she took it to a professional framer, and then to Many Thanks Gift shop in Mauchline, asking Carol her thoughts on selling my creation.
A few days later, Carol sold my very first painting!
And thats where my journey began ....
This huge boost of motivated made me want to paint more, and the more I practised at home, the more creative I grew, and the more paint I spilled. After spilling red indian ink all over the cream living room carpet, my parents decided to 'ban' me from painting in the house and gifted me a portacabin on the farm, to allow me space to spill as much paint as I wanted.
From then on, I worked hard and grew the business from my studio on the farm and a talent I never knew I had, grew through sheer passion and determination to show that it is very possible to have a career as an artist.
So my aim is to pass my skills on to other people who simply enjoy art. You don't need to be the best, you may never have even held a paintbrush before? But my classes are designed to show you step by step tuition to learn the simple techniques to create a painting that you can be proud of.
